26.05.24 06:59 PM Comment(s) By Cathy Ford

Introduction
Today, I discuss setting goals and priorities, and I'll share some tools I've learned about to help with these tasks.

Setting SMART Goals
Setting goals is crucial, and they should be SMART:
  • Specific: Clearly define what you want to accomplish.
  • Measurable: Ensure you can track your progress.
  • Achievable: Set realistic goals.
  • Relevant: Align your goals with your life and business.
  • Time-bound: Set deadlines to achieve your goals.

Examples of My Goals
  • Revamping the Website: I'm moving from WordPress to Zoho Sites to integrate with Zoho One, which I already pay for.
  • Launching a Newsletter: I aim to send out newsletters twice a month.
  • Starting a YouTube Channel: "Chat with Cathy" is a step towards this goal.

The Eisenhower Matrix

The Eisenhower Matrix is a tool for prioritizing tasks, developed by Dwight D. Eisenhower. It consists of four quadrants:

  1. Urgent and Important: Tasks to do immediately.
  2. Not Urgent but Important: Tasks to schedule for later.
  3. Not Important but Urgent: Tasks to delegate.
  4. Not Important and Not Urgent: Tasks to eliminate.

Application Example

  • Urgent and Important: Launching the revamped website, as the current hosting renews soon.
  • Not Urgent but Important: Cleaning my office, which isn't urgent but will be done eventually.
  • Not Important but Urgent: Delegating tasks like routine emails.
  • Not Important and Not Urgent: Eliminating unnecessary activities.
